About Jack

Jack Hickey is vice president within Advisory Board Consulting, bringing more than 30 years of experience in both financial and operational management of health care and transportation service industries. Jack brings clients critical cost savings and operational improvement resources through both interim and long-term management. Through his role, Jack provides leadership to members of the Financial Operations and Integrated Analytics team during interim and long-term management engagements. Jack is also instrumental in leading physician compensation plan redesign projects and conducting comprehensive financial and benchmarking assessments.

Some of Jack’s most significant assignments include Interim CEO for a 120+ provider multispecialty group in Billings, MT; Interim CFO for a 100+ provider multispecialty group in Medford, OR; Interim CEO for a 50+ physician startup in Champaign, IL; Interim Revenue Cycle Director for a 28+ provider multispecialty group in Houston, TX; Interim Finance Director for a 35+ provider multispecialty group in Michigan City, IN; Interim Executive Director for a 12+ provider multispecialty startup in Reading, PA; and providing financial support to a 100+ multispecialty group in Joplin, MO. Jack has also conducted and led several financial and operational assessments and has been an integral member of several projects involving revenue cycle improvement implementation for physician groups in Spokane, WA; Joplin, MO; Fresno, CA; and Salem, MA. 

Prior to joining Advisory Board, Jack served as Chief Operations Officer at a 100+ multispecialty physician clinic, with responsibility for 75 departments at nine locations, handling a gross revenue budget of $111 million. As Director of National Contracts, Jack facilitated the conversion to a national group purchasing program for 55 multispecialty clinics and approximately 3,700 physicians, and as a result, identified more than $20 million in savings opportunities.

Jack has designed and implemented a standardized pharmacy distribution program for 28 pharmacies and 46 clinics resulting in lower pharmaceutical acquisition costs and increased management reporting capabilities. In addition, Jack has conducted more than 30 operational assessments within materials management, identifying and implementing recommended improvement strategies. During 16 years at American Airlines, Jack held multiple financial positions, including Central Division Controller in Nashville with financial responsibility for 41 cities. Jack also served as Assistant Treasurer for National Auto/Truckstops and as Director of National Contracts for PhyCor Inc.

Jack holds a bachelor of science from C.W. Post University in Brookville, New York.
