Darren Miller
Darren joined Optum in 2011 and has more than 20 years of experience working with administrative medical claims, pharmacy, and EMR data. He leads the implementation of Optum’s SymmetryTM Suite in both the provider and payer settings to analyze the strengths and limitations of data and help clients prioritize which analytics are actionable and measurable. Darren uses a variety of business tools, including SQL, Oracle, SAS, UNIX, and Tableau, to support business development, reporting, and data mining efforts. He has worked for numerous payer and provider organizations in the Minneapolis area including Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, Medica, Fairview Health and a healthcare startup venture.

Prior to consulting, Darren was a molecular biology research scientist and published author focused on the development of a vaccine for HIV/AIDs at the University of Minnesota/VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. Outside of consulting, Darren enjoys kick boxing, running, biking, cooking and spending time with family in Minneapolis.
