Timothy Prinz


Experience and background

Tim Prinz is a Director on the Strategy & Growth team with a strategic focus on government programs, value-based care, population health, public health, and health equity. Tim has broad experience working in Medicaid, Medicare, and D-SNP and with commercial payers and providers as well, working on program design, implementation, and evaluation. Additionally, he is a leader for the Optum Center for Health Equity.

Prior to joining Optum Advisory, Tim spent eight years at the Lewin Group, a sister company to Optum, serving as a managing consultant on a range of projects on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).

What you need to know about Timothy

Tim started his career as an academic, teaching at the University of Virginia. While at UVA, he won an APSA Congressional Fellowship and served in the Office of Minority Leader Tom Daschle as a legislative assistant working on welfare reform and health policy. Tim earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in political science from Harvard University, and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from the University of Dayton.
