Dan Clark, RN, MBA, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, brings more than 25 years of experience to his role as senior vice president for Clinovations, within Advisory Board Consulting and Management
. Dan has extensive information technology experience to guide IT leaders and clinicians through the entire health care IT lifecycle, including enterprise technology strategic planning, governance structure development, and EMR and other system deployment, planning, and project leadership. He supports the firm's consulting efforts on telehealth strategy in the rapidly expanding area of virtual health.
Prior to joining Clinovations, Dan served as division chief information officer for University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. In this role, he was responsible for technology strategy for the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, and MacDonald Women’s Hospital. In addition, Dan was responsible for technology oversight and system implementation for many of the clinical areas within this academic medical center including cardiology, radiology, laboratory services, clinical research, and the University Hospitals Centers of Excellence. He was also responsible for the development and management of the hospital research informatics architecture and programs.
A registered nurse, Dan has held clinical positions in critical care and other leadership roles in consulting and software firms. He served as Chair of the CPHIMS Technical Committee within the Health Information Systems Society (HIMSS) that develops and oversees the international certification in healthcare information technology.
Dan holds a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master of business administration in management from Ashland University. He is board-certified as a Certified Professional in Health Information Systems by HIMSS. He is a HIMSS Fellow as well as a Fellow of the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Information Resources (AAMC).
