Braxton “B.J.” Millar brings more than 20 years of health care experience to his role as a member of the value-based care team for Advisory Board Consulting and Management. As Director, B.J. serves clients with Clinical Integration program formation, accountable care organization formation, bundled payment design and implementation, program effectiveness, care transformation strategy, population health management, payer strategy development, provider aggregation and the like.
Prior to joining Advisory Board, B.J. served as Healthcare Director of Navigant Consulting, located in Chicago, IL. His responsibilities included managing project teams on physician enterprise assessment and implementation projects to effectively identify real value opportunities and produce sustainable results without creating artificial dependencies. His areas of focus included physician enterprise strategy, organizational change management, physician and hospital alignment, practice management, clinical operations, provider compensation modeling, operations benchmarking, analytical tool development, data driven management reporting, physician practice administration, labor modeling and forecasting, operational redesign and process reengineering.
Before joining Navigant, B.J. served Quorum Health Resources Consulting (“QHR”), located in Brentwood, TN, as Director of Physician Services. In this role, B.J. led the development and delivery of physician-focused consulting solutions to address the economic, operational and strategic needs of hospitals and their physician partners. His responsibilities included assisting hospital clients with practice assessments, performance benchmarking, hospital and physician contracting, productivity improvement, and physician enterprise strategies addressing reform.
Additionally, B.J. served as Senior Associate for Equation Consulting, located in Layton, Utah, where he specialized in the measurement, planning and improvement of the physician economic enterprise. While serving Equation, his work was focused on physician practice management, clinical labor utilization, project management and electronic medical record implementation. In a prior consulting role, B.J. served Vertex Healthcare Consulting LLC, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, as Managing Senior Partner. His responsibilities included business development, project management, client relations, operations management, budgeting, and oversight of compensation and benefits.
In addition to the above roles, B.J. has also served as Senior Managing Consultant for Phase Two Consulting; President and Senior Consultant for LOGIX Consulting; and Practice Administrator for Salt Lake Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery PC.
B.J. earned an associate degree in Spanish and Portuguese, a bachelor of arts in philosophy from Brigham Young University, and a master of business administration from BYU’s Marriott School of Management, both located in Provo, Utah.
