Dan led the firm’s news coverage of the 2009-2010 health reform debate, filing regular “Washington Health Wire” updates. Before joining the news team, Dan worked in the Advisory Board’s research division and authored more than 125 reports, including customized studies on patient satisfaction, health IT, and the Magnet nursing program.
Dan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and served on the D.C. board of Penn’s alumni chapter. He is a contributor to Vox and Forbes, a contributing editor to California Healthline, and his writing also has appeared in Kaiser Health News, the Baltimore Sun, and other publications. Dan has been a guest on NPR's "All Things Considered," the NBC Nightly News, the Dan Patrick Show, KQED's "Forum," and other programs. He was recently named a 2015-2016 fellow of the Association of Health Care Journalists.
