Peter brings years of experience as a physician executive and informatics researcher to the Advisory Board. He is a nationally recognized expert in the use of information technology to improve patient safety, and has conducted and published AHRQ-funded research on computerized surveillance of populations for adverse events. His expertise also includes IT strategic planning, IT support for physician integration, patient safety strategies, and development of the Leapfrog Group’s CPOE testing tool.
Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Peter worked as a consultant and research analyst at First Consulting Group. He subsequently served as an Associate CIO at Duke University Health System, and as Medical Director for Information Technology at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He has extensive experience in clinical operations, clinical quality and clinical process improvement. Most recently Peter served as CMIO at NYU Medical Center.
Peter received his bachelor’s degree at Harvard College and his MD from Case Western Reserve University. He completed a residency and fellowships at Boston Children’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
