Jim Lazarus serves as managing director of strategy and innovation with The Advisory Board Company’s Revenue Cycle Solutions division.
Jim is a nationally recognized health care, finance and revenue cycle expert and has spearheaded initiatives to help hospitals, health systems, and physician practices address challenges such as reforming patient access, transforming point-of-service collections performance, creating world class financial counseling and self pay workflows, proactively addressing payer audit risks, developing an accountable revenue cycle workforce, implementing revenue integrity programs, and deploying revenue cycle performance analytics.
Throughout the course of his 12+ year career at the Advisory Board, Jim has worked with over 500 health care organizations of all shapes and sizes, including many of the nation’s most prestigious health systems, physician practices, and medical groups. He is also a frequent guest speaker for organizations across the country and has delivered keynote addresses for numerous professional organizations, including HFMA, HIMSS, AAHAM, and the AHA.
Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Jim worked for the revenue cycle consulting firm Stockamp & Associates (now Huron Healthcare Consulting), where he delivered engagements focused on streamlining front-end operations, optimizing business office performance, and rapidly improving revenue cycle performance.
Jim received his bachelor in science in Applied Biomedicine from Duke University. He serves on the board of directors for multiple national not-for-profit organizations focused on the issues of education, poverty, and expanding health care access for low-income families. He resides in northern Virginia with his wife and three children and is an avid international traveler.
