Around the nation: DuPage Medical Group CEO unexpectedly passes away at age 46


Michael Kasper, CEO of DuPage Medical Group, unexpectedly passed away Saturday at the age of 46, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Florida, Illinois, and Ohio.

  • Florida: Cancer Treatment Centers of America has named Gyasi Chisley as president of Cancer Treatment Centers of America Hospitals and Clinics. Chisley previously served as SVP of strategy and payment policy/innovation and chief strategy officer at UnitedHealthcare, as well as SVP for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Daily Briefing is published by Advisory Board, a division of Optum, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. UnitedHealth Group separately owns UnitedHealthcare (Vaidya, Becker's Hospital Review, 5/6).

  • Illinois: Michael Kasper, CEO of DuPage Medical Group, unexpectedly passed away Saturday at the age of 46. A spokesperson for the DuPage County coroner's office said Kasper's cause of death is pending the results of toxicology tests. Local police are investigating the death, the Chicago Tribune reports (Schencker, Chicago Tribune, 5/7).

  • Ohio: Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the largest Catholic health care systems in the United States, on April 30 announced it intends to merge with Bon Secours Health System, a five-hospital health system comprised of about 450 providers in Ireland. Bon Secours Health System is Ireland's largest private health system, with providers in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Tralee, and Dublin (LaPointe, RevCycleIntelligence, 5/6).
