Health and wellness programming serves as a core component of senior living offerings today, but remains underleveraged as a means to engage non-residents. Activities to engage seniors in fitness, maintain or improve activities of daily living, and prevent mental decline and depression provide a valuable benefit to seniors’ health—including those who do not live on the campus.
Therefore, as senior living organizations evolve to become senior solutions organizations, wellness programming need not be limited to community residents. In fact, encouraging visitors to participate allows seniors additional social opportunities while showcasing the community to future residents.
Three Pillars Senior Living Communities opened a wellness center available to the community and designed it specifically to be welcoming and accessible to the public. Wellness participation on campus jumped, and Three Pillars’ independent living occupancy grew to 99% as a result of the new positive exposure to community.
