Creating System Citizens

Health care organisations around the world are being urged—or sometimes mandated—to pursue networks of care in the hopes of achieving greater efficiencies from increased scale. But sadly, those tasked with this work are often left without a clear sense of what the success looks like, let alone how to get there.

We found that 'systemness' provides us with both a vision and a path to follow when assembling these systems of care. Further, we found that no matter where an organisation is along this path, there are several key areas to focus regardless of how far or fast they want to move.

This briefing focuses on one of these no-regret areas of systems development: creating system citizens. We map out the ways organisations can build greater stakeholder affinity for their system through four targeted and sequential engagement strategies.
