Market Scenario Planner

Use this tool to examine future patient utilization of services for any geographic region and model the impact of five key drivers of change that best reflect your market.

Tool overview

Get volume growth forecasts for inpatient and outpatient services customized to your market to inform service and site investment decisions.

Our Market Scenario Planner shows the types of services patients in your market are expected to use and allows users to customize projections according to five key growth drivers: disease prevalence, care management, insurance, readmissions, and technology shifts.

Select your market and get instant access to current, five-, and 10-year estimates of patient volumes and growth rates.

Who should use the tool?

The tool is designed for health system strategic planners and service line leaders.

How do I use it?

The tool allows users to create a market by zip code or county to see modeled all-payer volumes and future growth forecasts customized to the demographics of that service area by service line, subservice line, MS-DRG, or outpatient grouping. Filters for service line, demographics, and site of care enable more detailed analysis of growth projections. Growth drivers provide further detail on our forecasts and allow for customization to layer in local market intelligence.

What’s the current methodology?

We model baseline volumes by triangulating historical volumes from a variety of proprietary and publicly available claims datasets. We then forecast growth based on population and demographic changes, as well as market trends reshaping utilization at the service level. We update the tool annually.
