Continue LogoutThe Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) released complementary proposed rules that implement key provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act and promote greater interoperability for the healthcare industry and patient access to their health information.
Together, these proposals reflect a significant step by both agencies to “crack down” on siloes of patient data and any practices that prohibit access to and exchange of health information in the health care industry. When these rules are finalized in later 2019, we anticipate they will provide a floor from which CMS and ONC will build on to continue to encourage greater interoperability.
