Every few years, the Physician Executive Council surveys its members to learn how CMOs from across the country prioritize their time today and how they expect their role to evolve in the future.
The top takeaway from our 2019 survey: Although CMOs still spend a majority of their time on traditional responsibilities (e.g., quality improvement, medical staff affairs, and executive leadership) their span of control continues to increase across the continuum of care, and most CMOs expect to take on more cross-continuum strategy priorities in the coming years.
