For the ranking, Fortune expanded upon ServiceNow's Enterprise AI Maturity Index, which provided a framework for assessing AI readiness across organizations, and partnered with ETR to evaluate Fortune 500 companies on their AI implementation.
Between July 10 and Aug. 11, ETR surveyed technology leaders at Fortune 500 companies, asking them to assess the value of their organization's AI investments as well as their impression of how peer companies were adopting AI. A total of 167 responses were included.
The final AIQ ranking was calculated based on a weight average of four component scores:
For organizations that were included on Fortune's 2025 AIQ 50 list, their previous ranking scores were included as an additional input. Companies without 2025 data received a reweight score from the four components to create their final score. This year, an additional 25 companies were included in the rankings.
"The expansion of the Fortune AIQ list to 75 companies reflects the acceleration of AI adoption across corporate America," said Jeremy Kahn, AI Editor at Fortune. "Companies in every corner of the economy are moving from experimentation to implementation, using AI to improve operations, serve customers, strengthen decision-making, and create durable competitive advantage."
The top 10 companies on Fortune's 2026 AIQ 75 were:
Five healthcare companies also made the list for their success with AI:
30. UnitedHealth Group*
31. Elevance Health
36. DaVita
48. Pfizer
75. Thermo Fisher Scientific
"Every company on Fortune AIQ 75 list understands that AI fundamentally transforms business, but people will determine the outcomes. They're redesigning how work gets done and positioning their people close to where the change actually happens," said Jacqui Canney, chief people and AI enablement officer at ServiceNow. "These 75 companies know that as technology moves faster, your competitive edge comes from the people who can read where the business is headed and steer their teams through the shift."
