Daily Briefing

Are you a nurse leader? We want to hear from you.

Our 2023 nurse survey is now closed. Thank you for your participation! Expect survey results and analysis to be available soon.

Over the past 18 months, provider organizations have launched massive recruitment and retention efforts to stabilize the clinical workforce; in particular, for RNs. Top-of-the-list strategies have included aggressive compensation adjustments, use of travelers to shore up core staffing, flexible staffing options for permanent staff, and enhanced approaches to address burnout and work/life balance needs. Many organizations are also venturing into staffing model changes and the redesign of clinical work, as well as technology support.

What nurse leaders should know about RN intent to leave

While some progress is being made, high RN turnover and vacancy rates remain prevalent in most healthcare markets. The potential impacts of this are unsustainable labor costs, quality and safety issues, reduced service access, and declining patient experience scores. Healthcare leaders need an up-to-date examination of the latest challenges surrounding RN workforce stabilization to best match workforce investments with 2023 solutions.

Survey results will soon be publicly released, along with updated direction for hospital leaders to inform responsive workforce stabilization strategies. In addition, Advisory Board experts will be available to facilitate local market discussions.
