- District of Columbia: In an internal email, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Monday told employees that unvaccinated workers could "face termination" if they do not have a legally recognized exemption. According to DNC’s COO, Monica Guardiola, "This is part of the President’s national strategy and is a critical tool to combat Covid-19 and save lives in the months ahead." (Thompson, Politico, 10/4)
- Georgia: According to new data from CDC, at least 35% of adult residents are obese in 16 states—an increase from 9 states two years ago. In addition, more that 20% of adults are obese across all 50 states. Although metrics vary from state to state, the highest percentage of obese adult residents was found in Midwestern and Southern states. Notably, CDC said that around 42% of adults in the United States population are obese. (Searing, Washington Post, 10/4)
- New Jersey: Summit Health on Monday announced that Jeff Alter formally began his role as CEO. Alter succeeds Jeffery Le Benger, who is now executive chair of the management company's board. In a statement, Alter said that he is "honored and excited to deepen my connection to Summit Health and further the work we've done to become an organization known for high quality, value-based health care—centered on the patient." He added, "I see Summit Health becoming the model for the way health care should be delivered and proving that through the highest patient satisfaction and health outcomes in our industry."
