As health care costs rise nationally, employers are examining how they can reduce their health care spend. Cancer makes up a significant portion of that spend, accounting for 12% of employers’ total medical costs, despite only making up 1% of their claims.
Due to the significant—and growing—financial burden of cancer care, employers are actively working to reduce these costs, and cancer programs are uniquely poised to help employers in this effort. Through strategic partnerships with employers, cancer programs can establish trusted relationships, advocate for remaining an in-network provider, and build referral streams, while improving cancer care in their community.
