Healthgrades on Tuesday named this year's recipients of its annual America's Best Hospitals Awards, which recognizes the 250 top hospitals in the country.

About the list

The 2023 America's Best Hospitals list encompasses three awards:

• America's 250 Best Hospitals, which represent the top 5% of hospitals in the United States
• America's 100 Best Hospitals, which represent the top 2% of hospitals in the United States
• America's 50 Best Hospitals, which represent the top 1% of hospitals in the United States

To determine the winners, Healthgrades used 2019-2021 Medicare data to evaluate almost 4,500 hospitals on how well they performed in 31 of the most common treatment areas, including heart attack, pneumonia, and sepsis.
