Marisa has been a researcher with The Advisory Board Company since 2011. As the Practice Manager of the Nursing Executive Center, Marisa supports nursing leaders with strategy and operations. Her day-to-day work involves evaluating root causes of health care issues, identifying best practice solutions, and helping members implement these solutions. Her areas of expertise include nurse engagement and retention, strategic planning, and care coordination.
Prior to joining the Nursing Executive Center, Marisa supported and led research for the Oncology Roundtable. Her areas of expertise included growth strategy and emerging payment models, affiliations between community and academic cancer programs, cross-continuum care coordination, service line strategy, the patient experience, and survivorship. She also led research for the Medical Group Strategy Council.
Prior to working at The Advisory Board Company, Marisa worked in a community-based clinic as well as an anthropologically based consulting firm. Marisa has a BA in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s of Applied Anthropology from the University of Maryland. Her training focused of the impact of culture on health care decision making, the cultures of medicine and nursing as professional fields, health disparities, and program evaluation.
In addition to participating in various pro bono research projects, Marisa volunteers with DC SCORES and Casey Trees to support health and wellness in DC.
