Genetic counseling is a valuable clinical service for cancer patients. However, many cancer programs struggle to justify investment in genetic counseling due to its low direct reimbursement, limiting its potential impact.
The absence of a clear financial value proposition makes it difficult for genetic counseling programs to grow in a meaningful way, operate efficiently to improve program capacity, and realize the full benefits of cancer high-risk management.
