Clinician Supply Profiler

Use our estimator to get instant market-level specialty and subspecialty supply data.

Tool overview

See which physician specialties are relatively under- or oversupplied in your market compared to different health referral regions to make more informed specialty investment decisions.

The Clinician Supply Profiler allows users to compare specialists across the United States and find out the clinician supply they need to be on par with their selected market. Users can also see how many clinicians they would need to add to their market to keep pace with population growth.

Select your market and benchmarked hospital referral region to compare supply rates between the two.

Who should use the tool?

The tool is designed for health system strategic planners and service line leaders.

How do I use it?

The tool allows users to create a market by zip code or county to compare per 100,000 population supply of different clinician specialties to benchmark markets. We also layer in population growth to show how supply would need to change to keep up with population changes. Users can also compare how their market’s supply of specific specialists compares to the full distribution of health referral regions.

What’s the current methodology?

The tool sources demographic data, including current and future population estimates, from Applied Geographic Sources (AGS) and clinician roster data from LexisNexis. We update the tool annually, with an additional midyear update for the clinician roster.
