In an effort to ensure high-quality care, leaders often focus on supporting the clinical side of caregiving. This clinical focus may overshadow the importance of supporting emotional wellbeing. But emotionally exhausted clinicians cannot deliver effective patient-centered care. It's vital that leaders can recognize symptoms of emotional distress, and feel equipped to talk to their staff about it.
