How to Drive Provider Success in Value-Based Contracts
Health plans are pursuing risk-based contracts as a means to incentivize providers to efficiently manage populations and reduce spending. But the limited results from numerous risk-sharing arrangements between plans and providers to date prove that risk alone is not a guarantee to value-based contracting success.
What is missing in many risk-sharing strategies is a thoughtful shift of population management responsibilities to providers in a way that allows them to adapt to new goals and capitalize on their own strengths. This presentation will review how plans can delegate traditionally plan-held responsibilities among providers in order to reduce health care costs.
Things You’ll Learn:
- How to improve provider performance in value-based arrangements
- The importance of delegating population management responsibilities
