How one hospital reduced the A1C levels of their diabetic patients at no cost

Managing the health of patients with diabetes is no easy task, but leaders at West Jefferson Medical Center in New Orleans, La. recently developed a low-cost, high-impact approach to doing so.

Of the patients who received an A1C test and saw a diabetes educator, 69% experienced a reduction in their A1C levels upon their next interaction with West Jefferson.

What’s noteworthy about West Jefferson’s approach, besides its success, is that these changes were implemented without hiring any additional staff or increasing spending.
