The Medicare Hospital Promoting Interoperability Programs Penalty Estimator helps you assess your potential Medicare penalty if a hospital does not successfully demonstrate "meaningful use" (MU) of certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) based on the PI program requirements for a particular year.
This tool allows you to estimate the penalty based off two options: default and flexible modeling. The default option requires only the CCN, performance year for which the hospital is unable to demonstrate MU and assumes 2.5% projected annual growth and a 2.5% annual market basket update.
The flexible modeling option additionally requires your average Medicare inpatient revenue and average growth revenue and will estimate the penalty based on anticipated revenue growth.
