Everyone’s talking about how assisted and independent living organizations are becoming health care providers—and about their new need to define their roles in the health care industry. Across trade magazine articles, conference presentations, and interviews with our members, we hear the same thing: “we need to be a part of emerging health networks.”

Few seem to know exactly how, or why, we’re hearing this so often, but our research suggests resident turnover is primarily driving the trend.
