The first thing medical groups should prioritize when investing in MA growth is engaging traditional Medicare patients. But what should medical groups do once they’ve converted a sizable number of patients to MA?

When it comes to Medicare Advantage, the size of your patient pool matters. Once a medical group has secured a critical mass of MA beneficiaries, the group can begin to use its experience in the MA space as leverage to secure more profitable and favorable MA contracts in their market. While there are a number of strategies groups can use, one way we’ve seen independent medical groups enhance their negotiating power with payers is by entering into an exclusive arrangement with one MA plan.
