The 2012 Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act (FDASIA) charged HHS, acting through the FDA in consultation with ONC and FCC, to publish a report by January 2014 with recommendations for an appropriate, risk-based regulatory framework pertaining to health information technology.

Here, we examine the April 2014 report, the varied feedback it has received, and our recommendations for providers as they move into 2015.
