About the Webconference

Part 1: Organizations must improve their ability to identify targeted avoidable cost opportunities and lower health care spending for managed populations. Drawn from our research at the national meeting, we will discuss different methodologies for identifying targeted opportunities to reduce costs.

Specifically, we will look at avoidable cost benchmarks, which provide greater insight into important spending differences by payer, health care service, or diagnosis than traditional methodologies.

In this session, attendees will learn how to:

  • Distinguish the different data methodologies for evaluating cost variation
  • Analyze the size and types of avoidable spend opportunities

Presenter: Bonnie Jin

Part 2: Facing the growing prospect of managing risk-based contracts, health care leaders must develop effective strategies for managing the total cost of care. Further complicating this challenge is the fact that most organizations have mixed-risk portfolios and lack clear reimbursement incentives to guide their care transformation priorities. Armed with avoidable cost data, providers can assess health system capabilities and economic realities to shape a strategy for thriving under evolving accountability incentives.

In this session, attendees will learn how to:

  • Evaluate strategies for prioritizing cost opportunities under evolving incentives
  • Explore necessary levers for capturing avoidable cost opportunities

Presenters: Bonnie Jin and Tomi Ogundimu
