Global Edition: The Nurse Preceptor Toolkit

A leader’s guide to developing and inspiring high-performing preceptors

Global Edition Nurse Preceptor Cover

Preceptors, also called “mentors” or “clinical coaches,” are experienced nurses responsible for the at-the-bedside education of nurses new to the ward. As the number of new nurses entering the workforce continues to grow and more early-tenure nurses transition to specialty wards, preceptors must spend more time on clinical education. At the same time, care delivery is growing more complex—meaning there are more competencies and skills to teach and less time in which to do it. Yet few organisations have created or updated their preceptor programme to address these demands.

This toolkit has nine tools designed to help organisations update their preceptor support to more effectively teach the growing workforce entering practice in today’s complex care environment.
