Nupur (Nupe) Mehta, MD, MPH is a senior director and faculty member with Advisory Board's Talent Development division. He teaches workshops and presents research at leading hospitals and health care organizations across the United States, and provides guidance to executive teams on curriculum planning, accountability for learning application, and leadership culture.
Nupe is also faculty at the George Washington University Hospital where he is a practicing hospitalist physician, assistant professor of medicine, and associate program director for the internal medicine residency program. Prior to joining Advisory Board, Nupe was also the medical director for Evolent Health's Leadership Education Applied to Practice (LEAP) program, a group that worked closely with Advisory Board's Talent Development team on both content and delivery. Nupe previously was a regional vice president at Evolent and was an engagement manager at McKinsey and Company, both in the Washington, D.C., area.
Nupe completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Duke University, received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed his Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He did his residency training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital where he was named a fellow in global health equity. During medical school and residency, Nupe worked closely with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Partners in Health.
Clinically, Nupe is passionate about caring for hospitalized inpatients and management of acute conditions requiring a high level of care in an under-served urban environment. Nupe's research and policy interests include primary care transformation, population health delivery, the cost of healthcare, quality improvement, and clinician compensation.
On a personal note, Nupe lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife Laura, and two children Jaya (4) and Cecilia (2). In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, exercise, sports, and spending time with his family. A native of Charlotte, NC, he is an avid Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets supporter.
