James L. Field, President, is a leader of the Advisory Board’s Research Division, the largest entity of its kind serving more than 2,800 U.S. and international health care providers.
Across a span of 25 years, Dr. Field has researched and written on a broad set of topics—the market for health care, health system strategy, reimbursement mechanisms, physician alignment, clinical technologies, clinical quality, and oncology and cardiovascular services. Most recently, Dr. Field spent two years contributing to the firm’s deepening focus on products and services supporting system-wide clinical variation reduction. As a senior Advisory Board executive, Dr. Field serves as an advisor to C-suite executives and is a regular presenter to Boards and leadership teams.
Dr. Field received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, and his undergraduate degree from Boston University. Jim is a U.S. Navy veteran, serving eight years aboard submarines.
