David has worked at the Advisory Board for 18 years and currently serves as executive director and national/international physician director at the company. In these roles, he becomes expert on and presents findings related to a wide variety of areas critical to hospital/health system success. These content terrains include clinical and economic best practices, clinical and information technology, physician/staff quality improvement, marketing, physician-hospital alignment, demand forecasting, clinical integration, and the transition to accountable care.
David leads the faculty in presenting the research findings for multiple Advisory Board research programs including the Health Care Advisory Board, the Physician Executive Council, the Cardiovascular and Oncology Roundtables, the Marketing and Planning Leadership Council, the Imaging Performance Partnership, and the Advisory Board's international memberships. He is a highly sought-after presenter and consultant leading more than 100 sessions annually.
Earlier in his career, David worked in full-time clinical practice and research where he published widely in peer-reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters in neuroscience, medical-legal issues, and medical ethics. David also served with one of the leading international law firms as a healthcare and regulatory attorney working within the intersections of medicine and law. He consulted to CEOs and other senior leaders at hospitals/health care systems, international pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology companies, and start-up companies.
David maintained a faculty appointment at the Harvard Medical School for twenty years. He received his AB from Duke University, his MD from the Duke University School of Medicine, and his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. David completed his internship, residency, and chief residency at the Harvard Medical School and affiliated hospitals.
