About Ben

Ben Umansky is a managing director with the Health Care Advisory Board research team. His principal areas of expertise include the economics of emerging payment models, changes in insurance markets, and the business case for consumer-oriented care. Much of his time is spent exploring the impact of industry-wide trends on hospital and health system growth strategy.

Ben is a frequent speaker at board retreats and executive team meetings for Advisory Board members. Noted for his energetic and direct style, he is always honored and excited to share the Advisory Board’s research on location or via webconference.

Ben also leads the Advisory Board’s Community Hospital Initiative, a research effort dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of the independent hospitals, rural providers, and other smaller organizations that form the backbone of the health care continuum in many communities across the country.

Prior to joining the Advisory Board in 2007, Ben worked at the International Monetary Fund and the Congressional Budget Office. He holds a MS in Mathematics and Statistics and a BS in International Economics from Georgetown University.
