Around the nation: Biden wins 3 more states

    In the wake of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, Ohio pushed back its primary that had been scheduled for Tuesday, and four other states—Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky and Maryland—have followed suit and delayed their primaries, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, and New York.

    • Arizona/Florida/Illinois: Former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday won three states—Arizona, Florida, and Illinois—in the Democratic presidential primary race. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has not had any victories since Super Tuesday on March 3. Sanders on Tuesday did not share extensive details about his plans for his presidential campaign.     • California: Kaiser Permanente on Monday announced that it is donating $1 million toward efforts to prevent and treat cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, among homeless Americans. Kaiser said it is partnering with the National Health Care for the Homeless Council to fund at least four housing activist groups working to stem the virus' spread in California, Oregon, and Washington (Ross Johnson, Modern Healthcare, 3/16).

    • New York: New York has developed its own hand sanitizer, called "New York State Clean," to fight the new coronavirus. The sanitizer will be distributed to local governments, prisons, and schools in an effort to increase access to the product amid price gouging on the open market (Noble, Route Fifty, 3/9).
