- Michigan: Hurley Children's Hospital hosted its 29th annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Bowlathon. At the event, 250 bowlers helped raise $20,000 for the hospital. The proceeds will benefit the hospital's child life services and programs that help children cope and recover (Clak, NBC25News, 5/21).
- Minnesota: St. Francis Regional Medical Center has named Amy Jerdee as president, effective June 24. Jerdee is currently serving as VP of clinical operations at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Wisconsin where she has helped coordinate about $70 million in new construction and has led over 600 employees (Wittenberg, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, 5/20).
- Utah: Civica Rx, the hospital-led generic drug venture, and Xellia Pharmaceuticals have formed a partnership for manufacturing and distributing generic versions of drugs in high demand by hospitals. The first products to come out of the partnership will be vancomycin hydrochloride and daptomycin, both antibiotics that hospitals use to treat infections caused by bacteria resistant to other antibiotics (Klimek, Healthcare Finance, 5/20).
