Around the nation: Lyft announces new partnership with CommonSpirit Health

Daily Briefing

Lyft will partner with CommonSpirit and LogistiCare Circulation to arrange on-demand Lyft rides for patients in two states, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Arizona, California, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

    • Arizona/California: Lyft on Wednesday announced that it is partnering with CommonSpirit Health and LogistiCare Circulation to arrange on-demand transportation for CommonSpirit patients in Arizona and California. Under the partnership, CommonSpirit will work with LogistiCare, a technology manager of non-emergency medical transportation, to arrange on-demand Lyft rides for patients beginning later this year (O'Brien, HealthLeaders Media, 1/29).

    • Michigan: ProMedica is trying to sell Coldwater Regional Hospital, an 87-bed facility located in Coldwater, Michigan. ProMedica said a few buyers have expressed interest in Coldwater Regional Hospital, and a ProMedica spokesperson said the hospital system is "in the process of evaluating possible options to determine which, if any, could best meet the needs of the hospital and community" (Ellison, Becker's Hospital Review, 1/29).

    • Wisconsin: Gov. Tony Evers' (D) administration is looking to delay the state's implementation of Medicaid work requirements for childless adults. Wisconsin policymakers approved the work requirements under former Gov. Scott Walker (R), and the requirements originally were slated to take effect in November 2019. However, Evers sought to delay the requirements, and state lawmakers last year pushed the effective date to Jan. 30, 2020. On Jan. 29, Andrea Palm, secretary of Wisconsin's Department of Health Services, requested another delay that would push the requirements' effective date to April 29 (Associated Press, 1/29).
