    • Georgia: American-Chinese restaurant Panda Express in Columbus raised $14,301 for The Children's Hospital at Piedmont Columbus Regional. The money, collected from customers who rounded their bill up to the nearest dollar across the year, will go toward funding specialized equipment and supplies for neonatal and pediatric serves at the hospital (Waldock, WTVM, 2/11).

    • Massachusetts: Private equity firms Veritas Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital on Monday announced that they have closed on a deal acquiring Athenahealth for $5.7 billion. The private equity companies plan to combine Athenahealth with Virence Health Technologies, formerly owned by GE Healthcare (O'Brien, HealthLeaders Media, 2/11; Bannow, Modern Healthcare, 2/11).

    • Missouri: Jon Stillpass and Shaylor Taetz, two firefighters in St. Louis, went to the scene of a car accident in which a metro bus had slid on ice and spun. After attempting to transport the driver—the only person onboard—to DePaul Hospital and getting their ambulance stuck after sliding on ice, Stillpass and Taetz pushed the patient on a stretcher about a mile on the ice to get her to the hospital (Johnson, CNN, 2/12).
