Around the nation: Meet Intermountain’s newest additions to the C-suite

    Intermountain Healthcare last week named Heather Brace chief people officer and Dan Liljenquist chief strategy officer, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Massachusetts, Texas, and Utah.

    • Massachusetts: Gov. Charlie Baker (R) last week signed legislation that requires all Massachusetts hospitals by Oct. 1, 2021 to design and execute a plan to improve dementia treatment and diagnosis. The legislation is the first of its kind in the United States, according to Becker's Clinical Leadership & Infection Control (Knowles, Becker's Clinical Leadership & Infection Control, 8/13). 

    • Texas: Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen will implement a $68 million expansion to accommodate the increasing need for care in Collin County. The hospital plans to double its size by constructing a three-story patient care tower with increased bed capacity and pharmacy and lab services. The new building is scheduled to open in September 2020 (Paavola, Becker's Hospital Review, 8/13).

    • Utah: Intermountain Healthcare last week named Heather Brace chief people officer and SVP and Dan Liljenquist chief strategy officer and SVP. Brace is the second person to hold the chief people officer role at Intermountain, Modern Healthcare reports. According to Intermountain CEO Marc Harrison, the chief people officer serves as a "steward of Intermountain's people resources and ensure[s] Intermountain is a place where talented people want to work" (Modern Healthcare, 8/9).
