- Illinois: Doug Gates of New Horizons OB/GYN in Carbondale celebrated his 7,000th baby delivery earlier this month. Gates has kept notes on every single birth, and he said he typically provides care for about 300 births each year (O'Dell, Southern Business Journal, 3/25).
- Tennessee: Best Buy has donated more than $20 million to St. Jude Children's Hospital after a 12-week fundraising campaign. According to Becker's Hospital CFO Report, Best Buy's donation could provide treatment for nearly 70 patients with acute-lymphoblastic leukemia, or cover 2,000 CT scans, 3,000 days of ICU care, or nearly 13,000 days of chemotherapy (Paavola, Becker's Hospital CFO Report, 3/23).
