Around the nation: Amazon recruits former CIO at FDA

    Amazon has hired Taha Kass-Hout, the former CIO for FDA, to work on health care business development for the company's Grand Challenge team, also known as 1492, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Nebraska, New Jersey, and Washington.

    • Nebraska: Memorial Community Hospital & Health System named Manuela Wolf as president and CEO. Wolf recently served as the CEO of Harlan County Health System (HCHS) in Alma and previously served as HCHS's CNO. Wolf succeeds Tim Plante, who stepped down in September 2017 (Vaidya, Becker's Hospital Review, 3/16).

    • New Jersey: Hackensack Meridian Health and Carrier Clinic on Thursday announced they signed a letter of intent to partner on bolstering both organizations' behavioral health operations. According to the organizations, the partnership aims to tap Carrier's expertise and infrastructure for delivering behavioral health care to establish a model of care delivery that provides 24-hour access to mental health and substance misuse treatment across multiple points of care, including inpatient, outpatient, and residential facilities (Kacik, Modern Healthcare, 3/15).

    • Washington: Amazon has hired Taha Kass-Hout, the former CIO for FDA, to work on health care business development for the company's Grand Challenge team, also known as 1492. Kass-Hout has recently served as the SVP and chief digital health and intelligence officer for Trinity Health and as CDC's director of health informatics solutions and operations (Arndt, Modern Healthcare, 3/16).
