- California: Kaiser Permanente announced it will donate $600,000 toward wildfire relief and recovery efforts in Southern California. Of the $600,000, $350,000 will go to the United Way of Ventura County Thomas Fire Disaster Relief Fund, while $250,000 will go to the American Red Cross (Gooch, Becker's Hospital Review, 12/13).
- North Dakota: Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health will offer training and no-cost Narcan to local schools and school districts. A distributor will provide a box of two doses to middle and high schools, and four boxes to local colleges, according to Public Health Director Renae Moch (AP/Sacramento Bee, 12/13).
- Tennessee: Wendy Shirey, a nurse of 25 years, has been fighting kidney disease for 20 years and is in need of a transplant. According to WKRN, while the donor approval process can be time-consuming, it will be covered by Shirey's insurance. Individuals seeking information can call (615) 936-0695. "Anybody can be a donor, not just for me, but anybody," Shirley said (WKRN/WATE 6, 12/14).
