Around the nation: Ohio nurse becomes Ironwoman

    • Illinois: The Gottlieb Memorial Foundation has pledged $12.8 million to assist Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in the renovation of the hospital's ED. The renovation project will involve constructing a fast-track area in the ED, a waiting area, and a psychiatric bay. In addition, the renovation will include updates to the hospital's treatment and observation units, and it will boost security and disaster preparedness features (Paavola, Becker's Hospital Review, 10/5).

    • Ohio: Sarah Langan, a nurse anesthetist at Columbus Community Hospital in Ohio, completed the Ironman triathlon that took place in Wisconsin last month. The event consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 24.6-mile run all in the course of 17 hours (Morales, The Columbus Telegram, 10/5).

    • Wyoming: Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County has named Irene Richardson as CEO. Richardson previously served as the hospital's interim CEO and as the hospital's CFO (Vaidya, Becker's Hospital Review, 10/5).
