Around the nation: Piedmont, Walgreens partner to open 27 Atlanta-area retail clinics

    • Georgia: Piedmont Healthcare plans to open retail clinics at 27 Walgreens stores throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area, aimed at complimenting Piedmont's telehealth service, primary care facilities, and urgent care clinics, Alia Paavola reports for Becker's Hospital Review. The clinics, called Piedmont Quickcare, will have extended walk-in hours and offer online scheduling (Paavola, Becker's Hospital Review, 8/7).

    • New York: Lewis County General Hospital has named Gerald Cayer as its new CEO. In previous roles, Cayer was EVP at Franklin Community Health Network and head of the Health and Human Services Department in Portland, Maine (Vartorella, Becker's Hospital Review, 8/7).

    • West Virginia: Vaccines for Children is providing vaccinations for children at more than 380 locations, according to state health and education officials. The vaccines are available at no-cost for children who are uninsured or underinsured. Children in the state are required to have certain immunizations to enter school for the first time and at certain grades, including pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, seventh grade, and 12th grade (AP/Sacramento Bee, 8/8).
