  • With a bold vision and an open approach to what the patient experience can be, ERDMAN's design for Rush University Medical Center's new River North Clinic captures the spirit of downtown Chicago in a renovated and convenient, consumer-friendly space. (©2016 ERDMAN)
  • The fundamental inspiration for the design of the Gwinnett Cardiology Medical Office Building in Lawrenceville, Ga., is the architecture of the heart itself. The interior design by Stanley Beaman & Sears uses form, color, and texture to layer visual references and analogies to valve-like shapes and vascular flow. (© 2006 Jonathan Hillyer)
  • Kaiser Permanente engaged CO Architects to design their South Specialty Medical Office Building in Panorama City, Calif.   • Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the Yale-New Haven Health System Old Saybrook Medical Center offers patients convenient access to a broad array of clinical services—including the comprehensive Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center. (© 2015 John Giammatteo Photography)
  • A team from Array Architects designed Emblem Health's new seven-story medical office building in Brooklyn, N.Y., to provide outpatient medical services. Serving the community in an urban setting, the building was strategically located close to mass transportation to attract patients to the health system's expanded services.   • The 12-story Barnes-Jewish Center for Outpatient Health provides convenience and efficiency for private practice physicians as well as resident physicians in St. Louis, Mo. Christner's patient-centered design includes wide hallways and spacious exam rooms complete with specially designed beds, allowing more space for patients in wheelchairs and with walkers.   • BSA LifeStructures designed the UCHealth Carbon Valley Health Center in Firestone, Colo., for efficiency. The 20-exam room prototype displays a strong brand identity, while the layout facilitates seamless provider workflow, with room for expansion. (©2015 BSA LifeStructures)
  • Architects from IKM Incorporated designed UPMC Children's Hospital South in South Fayette, Pa. to support a system-wide facility branding initiative. This family-focused, suburban facility provides a one-stop, full spectrum of outpatient services including express care, primary care, specialist care, diagnostic imaging, and therapy services.   • Overcoming tight site constraints, GS&P and ophthalmology expert Julio Ripoll provided comprehensive planning, design, and construction administration services for the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at Naples.   • Designed by Hord Coplan Macht, The Holy Cross Hospital Medical Office Building supports hospital operations in Germantown, Md., by providing a retail pharmacy, lab, imaging center, physical therapy, and physician practices.   • The Hoag Health Center—Irvinein Irvine, Calif., is an ambulatory healthcare campus co-owned by Hoag and Pacific Medical Buildings. The Health Center consists of an ASC with eight operating rooms, comprehensive cancer center, full-service medical imaging center, urgent care center, medical laboratory, pharmacy, and multi-specialty physician offices including services for nine specialties. The project is anticipated to achieve LEED certification shortly.   • Architects from Baskervill designed the Centra Southside Medical Center, which provides care to the historically underserved community of Farmville, Va. The center includes two primary care clinics featuring 12 exam rooms each, imaging facilities, a physical therapy and orthopedic clinic, specialty clinic, urgent care, and shell space for future expansion.   • At Banner University Medical Center Phoenix Sleep Center, warm details provide comfort and reduce anxiety for sleep study patients. Devenney Group architects designed the sleep center within the existing EEG clinic space to ensure acoustical privacy between rooms and fulfill the clinical requirements necessary for sleep studies.   • The Buck Creek Medical Plaza, designed by Davis Partnership Architects in partnership with developer Nexcore Group LLC, will provide affordable, convenient, and high-quality health care in Eagle County, Colo. The facility will accommodate a full range of outpatient services, including primary and specialty physician care, diagnostic imaging, and emergency care. ( © 2015 Davis Partnership Architects)
  • WHR Architects designed the HOPE (Healing Outpatient Experience) Tower of Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The Neptune, N.J., facility offers outpatient imaging services, a clinical academic center, an innovative simulation laboratory, and clinical offices with 1,500 new parking spaces for patients, guests, and team members.   • Gastrointestinal Associates partnered with Realty Trust Group to develop a modern, patient-centered endoscopic treatment center offering preventive care, wellness programs, and comprehensive treatment services. The Dowell Springs Medical Office Building in Knoxville, Tenn., will incorporate best-practice sustainable design and amenities to maximize the patient care experience.   • The Florida Hospital New Smyrna Health Park offers primary care, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, medical oncology, chemotherapy infusion, outpatient rehabilitation, imaging, and laboratory services.   • University of Minnesota Health adopted a new approach to outpatient care with its innovative Clinics and Surgery Center. The 340,000 sf building in Minneapolis, Minn., designed by CannonDesign, opened in February 2016. (© Craig Dugan Photography)
  • Kelsey-Seybold, the nation's first accountable care organization, wanted to bring comprehensive and integrated outpatient cancer care to its main campus in Houston, Texas. Welltower worked with Kelsey to upend traditional development with a collaborative process that resulted in effective use of capital, replicable interior designs, and significant reductions in expense.   • Designed by FKP, the six-level medical office building at Texas Children's Hospital—The Woodlands houses pediatric specialty clinics including cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Its flexible floorplan and interchangeable modular exam and diagnostic/treatment rooms invite patients, families, and caregivers into a welcoming, patient-centered environment. (© 2016 FKP)

  • The Freeport Community Clinic is a 60,000 sf project that consolidates all outpatient services for the island of Grand Bahama.   • Well Life Medical blends the best of traditional Western medicine with non-traditional Eastern medicine to create a holistic plan tailored to each unique patient. Perkins + Will designed the Peabody, Mass., facility to provide a soothing spa-like environment that allows natural light into patient and staff areas and optimizes both patient and staff experience. The concept also provides separate staff and patient zones, allowing for team collaboration and flexibility as well as optimizing operational efficiencies. (©2014 Perkins+Will, Inc.)
  • The new six-story Ron Conway Family Gateway Medical Building at UCSF, Mission Bay in San Francisco, Calif., provides clinical services for women, children, and cancer patients. Connected to the inpatient medical center for easy access, Stantec designed each area to have its own identity and enrich the experience for the patients, visitors, and clinicians.   • The Ambulatory Clinical Building built by JE Dunn will provide 128 exam rooms for the new Creighton University Academic Medical Center Bergan Campus in Omaha, Neb. Outpatient services span 13 wide-ranging departments. (© 2016 Leo A. Daly)
  • ZGF Architects LLP designed the new 68,000 sf, three-story ambulatory surgery center and medical office building on the Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center campus.
