  • Architects from AECOM designed the 21-story replacement tower at The Mary Catherine Bunting Center at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, to include medical/surgical units, intensive care, orthopedics, inpatient oncology, telemetry and dialysis, operating rooms, an administrative suite, a chapel and rooftop garden.   • BSA LifeStructures designed the Siemens Zeego Robotic room at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. The hybrid OR is optimized for cardiovascular procedures with a bypass pump.   • CTA Group designed this suite at the Billings Clinic to offers complete breast diagnostic services in a spa-like environment. The patient -centered design attaches individual changing rooms to exam rooms ensuring privacy.   • Children’s Hospital Colorado South Inpatient Facility with Davis Partnership Architects and FKP Architects integrated the Philips Ambient Experience into the MRI Suite.   • Designed by architects from DesignGroup, this addition at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital will include an expanded surgery area, 27 pre-op bays, 14 PACU bays, exam rooms, rehab, and clinical space dedicated to orthopedic and cardiovascular care. (© 2014 DesignGroup)

  • Architects from Devenney Group designed three new state-of-the-art hybrid operating rooms as part of a multi-phased renovation project for Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center; reorganizing existing hospital space to increase diagnostic and treatment functions.   • Architects from Earl Swensson Associates helped Vanderbilt University  Medical Center relocate key procedural areas within their Critical Care Tower.   • EUA designed a new interventional radiology suite within Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s 1960s era hospital. The design team selected a custom Cleansuite system by Huntair to provide a modular ceiling system which provides room lighting, equipment support and proper airflow to the procedure rooms.   • Flad Architects designed Genesis Health System’s endovascular operating room suite to combine conventional operating room capabilities with endovascular imaging, allowing complex cases, which may require a combination of procedures from multiple specialists, to be completed in a single operating room.   • Architects from Francis Cauffman designed The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center. The new 11,200-square-foot cardiovascular operating suite is an expansion of the main campus surgical suite and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed for maximum flexibility.   • To support the realignment of the network's cardiac services, FreemanWhite renovated two existing ORs into a hybrid OR suite at Carondelet Heart & Vascular Institute, St. Mary's Hospital.   • The design team of H+L/Davis, a joint venture, as the architect in association with ZGF Architects, LLP as design consultant, worked on the new 830,000 sq. ft. Saint Joseph Hospital. The 2nd floor interventional platform includes 21 ORs with two advanced, hybrid ORs as well as eight catheterization labs, with two EP labs that swing to ORs for pacemaker implants.   • Hord Coplan Macht designed the new endoscopy and surgical suite at Mercy Medical Center.  The gastrointestinal suite includes six dedicated gastrointestinal rooms with twenty private prep and recovery rooms.   • Kahler Slater partnered with Martha Jefferson Hospital to design their new Surgical and Interventional Procedural Center. A focus on the operational efficiency of consolidated services resulted in a 56% increase in on-time procedural starts, 62% decrease in procedure room turnover time, 23% decrease in procedural center staff overtime, and 37% increase in HCAHPS patient satisfaction measures.   • Designed by SmithGroupJJR, the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital’s new OR uses the IMRISneuro system to enable real-time, high resolution imaging during complex neurosurgeries.   • Stantec provided architectural services to University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital for the full renovation of one of their operating rooms in order to develop a Translational Integrated Guided Operating Room (TRIGOR A), to be used for bio-sciences research purposes. A fully integrated, multi-modality image-guidance system has been deployed featuring a multi-detector CT scanner, a C-arm for cone-beam CT / fluoroscopy, high-performance ultrasound, fluorescence imaging, and optical tracking systems.   • Steffian Bradley Architects designed the new Heart and Vascular Hybrid Surgery Suite in Baystate’s Hospital of the Future.  Designed to provide optimum flexibility and to serve a variety of patient populations, the surgical/endovascular suites in the Heart and Vascular Center can support the requirements of both traditional open surgical cases as well as fixed-image-supported endovascular care. This allowed for much needed expansion and upgrades to the Surgery Department, broadening the hospital's overall surgical capabilities through the addition of a new Hybrid Operating Room.   • The Hybrid Vascular Operating Room at Albany Medical Center was designed by TRO Jung|Brannen. Fixed systems are accompanied by floating angiography tables which allow the surgeon to move the patient easily, permitting the most efficient imaging.
