Hospital-physician alignment is critical under all value-based payment scenarios, and only two alignment models meet the criteria needed for population health management: extensive employment and clinical integration (“CI”).
Although extensive employment technically meets the criteria, few organizations will be able to pursue broad value-based arrangements without partnering with independent physicians. Success under value-based payment thus requires health systems to create a physician performance platform that goes beyond the confines of contractual relationships while accommodating a pluralistic medical staff. CI serves as that platform, enfranchising both employed and independent physicians, and building the foundation for success under value-based payment.

How we help
Our team has partnered in the development of nearly 100 CI networks across the country.
We work with organizations to facilitate rapid process design of a CI network. Our work extends beyond that—we provide project management to build the CI network and formally launch the program, and we have expert interim management resources to support full network deployment and oversee CI network operations once it is up and running.
