Just released! The CAHPS Cancer Care Survey is now available

April 5, 2017

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) recently released the finalized version of the CAHPS for Cancer Care Survey. Cancer programs can use the survey, which has been in development since 2009, to capture data on their cancer patients' care experience.

The survey consists of 3 specialty-specific survey tools

AHRQ's survey consists of separate tools for radiation oncology, medical oncology, and surgical oncology. Each survey tool has 56 questions that cover a range of topics such as wait times, communication with clinical staff, patient education, and symptom management. In addition to the three main survey tools, there are three supplemental items programs can use to gain more insight into patients' experience with shared decision-making, provider communication, and access to care. The survey is currently available in both English and Spanish.
