As the industry faces disruption, provider organizations are looking for ways to innovate their primary care offerings to improve patient experience, retain their physician workforce, and partner with employers. Direct primary care (or DPC) is one solution that organizations are beginning to pursue. DPC is a membership-based primary care model where patients or employers pay their provider directly rather than billing their insurance. In the model, patients go to their DPC provider for all their primary care needs, which are typically fully covered under their monthly fee.
